Hearing Aid Technician

JDA

Since Covid-19 closed, access to hospitals around the country means hundreds of people have not been able to get hearing aids fixed easily. This leads to no chatting with friends and family, no social activities, an increasing sense of isolation and withdrawal from society. Since the beginning of the lockdown, we have helped over 400 people in just one year!

Be a vital link in the support for older people with hearing loss. Help them to get maximum use out of their hearing aids by ensuring they work and are in tip-top condition.

Main tasks and responsibilities

  • Visit residents in their own homes and deliver basic hearing aid maintenance such as re-tubing and battery replacement.
  • Signpost to other services such as the Technology and Information service at JDA.

Benefits to volunteer

  • Opportunity to be a vital link in the support for older people with hearing loss.
  • Decrease social isolation faced by people with hearing difficulties by helping to fix their hearing equipment.
  • We provide technical training.
  • An opportunity to visit a variety of people from across the community.
  • We cover all travel expenses & provide all equipment needed.
