Fundraising Volunteer

Citizens Advice Redbridge

We provide free, confidential, independent and impartial advice and campaigns on big issues affecting people’s lives.

Our Goal is to help everyone find a way forward, whatever problem they face. We’re an independent charity and part of the Citizens Advice network across England and Wales. 

Main tasks and responsibilities

  • complete an introduction to Citizens Advice and training for your role
  • explore different ways of fundraising to help the local Citizens Advice obtain money, either for specific things, or for ongoing running costs of the local Citizens Advice
  • help to organise fundraising events to raise money from the local community and encourage volunteers and staff to get involved
  • create materials, such as newsletters or presentations, which can be used to raise the profile of the local Citizens Advice and for raising money
  • help to explore other ways of fundraising, including applying for funding bids and contacting local businesses

What skills do I need?

Skills, attributes, qualifications and experience

  • Be friendly and approachable
  • Be non-judgmental and respect views, values and cultures that are different to your own
  • Have a positive attitude towards fundraising
  • Have excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Have good IT skills
  • Be willing to learn about and follow the Citizens Advice aims, principles and policies, including confidentiality and data protection
  • Be willing to undertake training in your role
  • Internet access
  • Own computer (but in certain circumstances we will provide volunteers with a computer)
  • Need to be 18+.

When do I need to be available?

Morning Afternoon Evening

Ideally we ask for eight hours per week, which can be over one day or spread over two days. The minimum commitment is 12 months. Currently, there isn’t a need for volunteers to go into the office, However potentially towards the end of the year we are looking to start exploring options to get volunteers back into the office

    We have an Advisor learning plan which all our volunteer advisors have to complete, this is about 36 hours worth of training. Adviser training is delivered online through Docebo
