Hospital Visitor Volunteer

Our Redbridge services provides a range of advocacy support .

Main tasks and responsibilities

  • The role supports our IMHAs (Independent Mental Health Advocates) by doing regular visits and drop ins to psychiatric wards at general hospitals and mental health in patient facilities across Redbridge.
  • The volunteer will give out basic information.
  • Help clients to refer for IMHA  support via our Helpline and  be the link between clients and their IMHAs in-between visits.
  • Work will be logged onto our Salesforce system.

What skills do I need?

Skills, attributes, experience and qualifications

  • An interest is mental health and/or lived experience is desirable but not required.
  • The ability to listen without judgement and give out information in a clear and supportive manner.
  • Basic IT skills, some travel may be required to sites.
  • The ability to work both independently and part of a Team.
  • Need own computer and internet access.
  • Need to be 18+.
  • Expenses will be reimbursed.

Details

2-3 hrs per week. Preferred minimum length of commitment: 6 months Volunteers will complete their tasks within working hours Mon- Fri 9-5pm. Times may be dictated by access to facilities and agreed with the Service Team.

    Volunteers with additional Support Needs: Volunteers are risk assessed and every effort is made to ensure they can volunteer on the same terms as other volunteers who do not have additional needs. Support needs are tailored to the individual.
