LB Redbridge: Children's Centres

We are looking for passionate people to volunteer with us for our new Baby Bank & Toddler Clothes Bank. We are helping families in Redbridge who are facing hard times or a crisis.

We collect and provide baby/toddler essentials like nappies, wipes, clothes, books, toys and pushchairs. We don’t receive any funding for the Baby/ toddler Banks and rely solely on donations from the local community to support our work.

Main tasks and responsibilities

  • Receiving the donations, sorting through items and storing them safely
  • Contribute to a non-judgemental, safe space and support families emotional wellbeing where needed
  • Listen to the needs of families and help them find items they require
  • Introducing families to new opportunities and activities through sign posting to local services and within the Children's Centres
  • To champion a co-production approach with families, other volunteers and staff
  • To comply with Redbridge Diversity & Equality Policy and our Ethical Policy in every aspect of volunteering and positively promote the principles of these policies amongst colleagues, service users, volunteers and other members of the community.
  • To comply with Redbridge Health and Safety Policy, Data Protection Policy and to protect your own and others’ health, safety and welfare

  • Organised and proactive
  • Friendly, empathic and non-judgmental attitude
  • An understanding of working with vulnerable families
  • Effective communication skills, confident speaking to a diverse range of people and an active listener
  • Able to work in a confidential environment
  • A strong team player
  • Need own mobile phone
  • You need to be 18+

Details

Volunteers can choose AM or PM which is flexible. Ideally looking for volunteers to give at least 4 hours per week for a minimum of 6 months.

    Volunteer handbook, Induction, Named supervisor, Regular supervision. Those with additional support needs will be supported by Children’s Centres staff team Minimum length of service before references can be provided: 6 months. 4 Hours per week.
