English for Women is looking for friendly and approachable volunteers to provide support to those in our communities who speak little or no English. With a positive outlook and an enthusiasm to support others, you will help to reduce the isolation of women from around the world.

Main tasks and responsibilities 

  • Provide help to online groups as well as face-to-face sessions for those who speak little or not English. 
  • Provide help to those who speak little or no English by giving them the opportunity to participate in conversational learning.
  • Guiding, and participating in, topic-led, small group, conversation-based learning, using printed resources provided.
  • Providing support and safety to pre-school children (of learners) in the play area.
  • Sessions run for two hours, plus an additional commitment of 15 minutes before and after each session to set up and clean down e.g. setting up refreshments, receiving session resources/direction, leaving the venue clean and tidy afterwards.

What skills do I need?

Skills, attributes, experience and qualifications 

  • No experience necessary. 
  • 2.5 hours commitment each week (one morning) term-time only.
  • Need to be 18+

When do I need to be available?

Morning Afternoon Evening

Goodmayes (short walk from station): Thursday 9.30am-12.30pm
