Volunteer Drivers

Winners Community Group CIC

Winners Community Group promotes social integration, health and wellbeing to reduce the level of inequality among local old people from BAME communities.

Volunteer Drivers are needed to:

  • provide food collection and delivery duties
  • provide rides for service users to healthcare appointments or as directed
  • coordinate all trips through Winners Community Group Project Co-Ordinator

Other tasks and responsibilities

  • be punctual and dependable in picking up service users at the scheduled time
  • keep the Project Co-Ordinator informed regarding your availability
  • provide project Co-Ordinator with as much notice as possible when cancelling a trip
  • maintain confidentiality regarding client information
  • regularly service and maintain your vehicle to ensure safety of clients (seat belts must be available)
  • provide evidence of current vehicle insurance policy and registration
  • immediately report incidences, accidents or concerns to Project Co-Ordinator
  • inform Project Co-Ordinator of any changes in address or phone number
  • to follow other instructions given by the Project Co-Ordinator

What skills do I need?

 Skills, attributes, experience and qualifications

  • Valid driver’s license and safe driving record with a maximum of 3 demerit points
  • Comprehensive Insurance and current registration
  • Access to a vehicle that is roadworthy, reliable and suitable for food/client’s needs
  • No health condition that may impair ability to drive safely (vision, hearing, perception, reflexes, certain medication etc.).
  • Understand the limitations experienced by some of our clients such as mobility and hearing or vision loss.

The position of volunteer driver requires a rigorous level of screening that corresponds to the risk associated with volunteers who work unsupervised and transport passengers in their own vehicles.

There is flexibility and no minimum time requirement, however volunteers are asked to keep the Project Co-Ordinator updated of their availability.

    18 plus.
  • DBS checks - additional information
    DBS check required. If you do not already have Winners can arrange this for you.
  • Reference can be provided after how long volunteering?
    References can be provided after 6 months volunteering.
  • Transport Info (nearest station / bus stop)
    Drivers needed to travel in Redbridge area, but some clients come from other boroughs (Newham, Barking, North London) so may involve travel out of borough if happy to do so.
