Volunteers for our new Tech Assistance Project

One Place East

As well as the Saturday Digital Tech Support Drop-ins this project enables us to provide individual technology training and support sessions, and training workshops such as online basics.  Therefore, we are looking for volunteers who would like to be involved in any of these activities.  

Main tasks and responsibilities

The main aim of the volunteer’s role is to work with and provide technical support to disabled people to increase their digital skills, safety, and confidence to access online services.

  • We pay all volunteers 'out of pocket' travel expenses and lunch when volunteering for over four hours.

What skills do I need?

Skills, attributes, qualifications and experience

• Some experience in providing one-to-one support and/or group support to disabled people. This includes individuals with learning disabilities; physical disabilities; dementia; mental ill health; sensory impairment; long term health conditions and neuro diverse, such as those with autism, and dyslexia.

• Confident in using technology such as computers, smart phones, and tablets.

• Confident in researching and supporting individuals around the use of assistive technology and equipment.

• Be patient.

• Have good communication skills with a friendly approachable manner.

• Be flexible with availability.

• Have good time keeping.

• Be reliable and be able to engage with people.

• Enjoy helping others.

  • Need to be 18+

All volunteers will be required to complete an enhanced DBS check and provide two character references.

When do I need to be available?

Morning Afternoon Evening

We are looking for volunteers who live in East London who can provide tech support to disabled people which could be 1 or 2 hours on the days of the week and the occasional Saturday. We are planning five (5) Saturday workshops until the end of the year. The first workshop is on Saturday, the 20th of May, between 10am and 2:30pm.
