Redbridge Faith Forum

The Multi-Faith walk is is an annual event with the theme this year of 'Caring for our Elderly and Vulnerable' including raising awareness of the support offered by Saint Francis Hospice. The hospice specialises in providing care for any person, from any faith or cultural background, who has been diagnosed with an advanced or progressive illness and offers end of life care both at home and in the 

Walkers will commence at the Holocaust Memorial Gardens in Valentines Park and walk to a further 5 venues; (Buddhist Vihara, Hindu Temple, Mosque/Islamic Centre, Church, Gurdwara). Finishing at the Gurdwara in High Road Ilford where it may be possible to partake in a langer (vegetarian meal).  At each venue they will hear about the climate emergency from the appropriate faith perspective.

Main task and responsibilities

The role involves wearing a high viz vest (supplied) and walking alongside walkers ensuring the allocated route is followed and roads are crossed safely.

What skills do I need?

Skills, attributes, qualifications and experience

  • Volunteers need to be friendly, personable with good verbal communication skills in order to help escort walkers along pavements and across roads on the route
  • Need own mobile phone
